Protect Those Velvet Shoes
Much the same as in the '90s (and the previous fall), velvet poses a potential threat this season. What's more, one of our most loved approaches to get in on the pattern is by wearing it on our feet. There's only one little hiccup: How would you administer protection for such fragile material that is going to be attached to the ground? Here's the ticket.
What you require: Scotchguard or another furniture texture protector.
What you do: Hold the can at a safe distance (no less than six inches away) and delicately fog your shoes, being mindful so as not to push down on the trigger too hard (which will soak, rather than uniformly cover the velvet). A spray defender won't make the material totally waterproof, yet it will limit everyday recoloring. To keep them looking crisp between wears, softly scour away any grossness with a clean toothbrush.
And afterward? Rock those precious shoes every chance you get!
